SIPTU's aviation branch secretary, Mr Paul O'Sullivan, said the union would make proposals to restructure Aer Rianta an issue in the forthcoming byelection in Dublin North.

He condemned the Government for its failure to make provision for an employee share option scheme in the Aer Rianta Bill, which receives its second reading next Wednesday.

He also said that if the current dispute at TEAM Aer Lingus escalated, it could become an election issue.

The two companies employ 10,000 people, most of whom live in Dublin North.
