Teachers get set for pay deal talks

Mr Sean Healy of the Labour Relations Commission has been appointed a facilitator for new talks on the Government's £66

Mr Sean Healy of the Labour Relations Commission has been appointed a facilitator for new talks on the Government's £66.7 million pay offer to teachers. The deal was rejected by two of the three teacher unions.

The Minister for Education, Ms Breathnach, confirmed yesterday that the talks would take place on the understanding that no more Government money was available. Teachers will also be required to offer greater productivity in return for any agreement.

The talks are likely to start again next week.
