Taxi-drivers should help the Garda trace those who had made death threats against the Minister of State for the Environment, Mr Molloy, said Mr Willie Farrell (FF).

Supporting a call for a further debate on the taxi deregulation controversy, he said he wanted to condemn the intimidation associated with it, particularly the death threats to the Minister who was doing no more than upholding the laws of the land.

Mr Maurice Manning, Fine Gael leader in the House, said they were seeing intimidation that had not been witnessed in this country for a long time.

He also said the House should condemn without equivocation the action of Minister of State Mr Willie O'Dea who had undermined his own Government and the Minister, Mr Molloy, by describing him as impertinent. If he were honourable, Mr O'Dea would resign.
