The Taliban claimed today US forces have hijacked radio frequencies around the city of Kandahar and begun broadcasting messages and music.

The Afghan Islamic Pressnews agency says the broadcasts warn people to stay away from the Taliban.

The Taliban claims locals are ignoring the broadcasts because they don't believe US propaganda.

"The Americans will not succeed in their mission of corrupting our people," a Taliban spokesman in Kandahar is quoted as saying.
