Britain mobile computer maker Psion, said today its associate company Symbian will provide its software platform for Siemens's future smartphones.

Psion, which includes Ireland's Parthus Technologies among its partners, founded Symbianto create wireless devices using its mobile computing operating system.

Psion has said it plans to float Symbian after mid-2001. Psion shares were up 3.09 per cent at £1.91 in early morning trade.

Symbian's other shareholders are Ericsson of Sweden, Finland's Nokia, US-based Motorola and Japan's Matsushita.
