The chairman of the Dublin Scaffolders' Society, Mr Andrew McGuinness, is to speak at the UB40 concert in Dublin Castle today. SIPTU construction branch secretary Mr Eric Fleming thanked the group and concert organiser DMC yesterday for their gesture. "If the employers had shown as much good will, the dispute would have been settled by now," he said.
Over the bank holiday weekend several large contractors in Dublin, Cork and Limerick are expected to use the break in picketing to ferry supplies into major sites and avert further layoffs.
