Matthew Stevens looks back to his best form after a stunning 5-0 whitewash of Ronnie O'Sullivan in the last-16 of the LG Cup at the Guild Hall in Preston.
The talented world number nine did not allow the 'Rocket' a look in as he raced into a 4-0 lead at the interval, before wasting little time to snatch the last frame to book his place in the quarter-finals.
World number three O'Sullivan took just 30 points from the one-sided contest which finished in just an hour and 13 tinutes.
But despite defeat, O'Sullivan said he had not been too disappointed with the way we he had performed.
Instead the Essex ace paid tribute to his opponent, who he admitted "trounced" him.
"I've done well not to win a frame," joked O'Sullivan, who was still confident of clawing back the difference having trailed 4-0 at the interval.
"Matthew is a heavy scorer, plays good safety and I hope he goes on and wins it. He deserves to.
"He smashed me to bits. I made hard work of it, but that's the way it goes sometimes."
Stevens, understandably, was delighted with the way he played and admitted he is now feeling "good" about his game again.
"It was a great result for me," beamed Stevens, who racked up breaks of 51, 72, 52 and 54 on route to his next round clash with either John Higgins or Shaun Murphy.
"My long-potting was good and three of the frames I won were because I got in because of that."
