CANADIAN CROONER Michael Bublé will be the first artist to play at the new Aviva Stadium at Lansdowne Road in Dublin when he kicks off the first of his two sell-out concerts there tomorrow evening.
Tickets for the concerts sold out within two hours of going on sale. Promoters MCD expect 100,000 people at the gigs over the weekend.
Parking restrictions will be in place from midnight tonight in the environs of the stadium. Lansdowne Road and Bath Avenue will be closed from 1pm tomorrow and Saturday, and Shelbourne Road between Bath Avenue and Merrion Road will be closed from 3pm on both days.
Gardaí are advising concert-goers to use public transport as there are no parking facilities at the stadium, and to allow 90 minutes’ travel time to and from the concerts.
Additional public transport will be laid on.
People are asked to follow the colour-coded access points to the stadium that correspond to their tickets. Gates open at 5pm, with support acts on stage at 7pm. Michael Bublé is due on stage at 8pm.
- Meanwhile, Dutch violinist, conductor and composer André Rieu has been forced to cancel his two concerts in Dublin and Belfast this weekend due to ill health.
New tour dates will be rescheduled as soon as possible, and information on the new dates will be published as soon as it is known. Tickets will stay valid for the new dates.
People unable to attend the new dates should contact their ticket-sellers for a refund.
