Cape Canaveral - The unmanned US spacecraft Lunar Prospector has begun circling the Moon, the US space agency NASA announced yesterday.
Its engines fired for 32 minutes to slow the probe as it flew 71 km above the lunar surface, scientists said. It was then put in an elliptical orbit, where it was due to remain for some 12 hours.
