South Africa have made six changes to the side thrashed 52-16 by New Zealand two weeks ago for Saturday's Tri-nations clash with Australia in Brisbane.

Scrum-half Joost van der Westhuizen, full-back Brent Russell, flanker Wikus van Heerden, lock Bakkies Botha and prop Lawrence Sephaka have all been dropped. Centre Andre Snyman had already been omitted from the squad.

Van der Westhuizen, South Africa's most capped player, loses out to Craig Davidson after an indifferent display against the All Blacks. Russell is replaced by Andre Pretorius while uncapped centre Jorrie Muller partners De Wet Barry in midfield.

There are three changes in the pack. Joe van Niekerk is recalled for the first time this season following a knee injury while Selborne Boome replaces Botha in the second row. Robbie Kempson is preferred to Sephaka in the front row.
