Sinn Féin has announced a new €1 billion jobs policy that it says will get at least 50,000 young people off the dole queue.

Launching the policy this afternoon, party finance spokesman Arthur Morgan and South Dublin councillor Sean Crowe said that the party wanted to create a youth fund of €500 million, new initiatives to help young people learn foreign languages, and eight measures to encourage entrepreneurship.

The party is opposed to the Government's proposals for €3 billion in cutbacks and savings this year.

It says it will raise the funds by new wealth taxes on assets and annual earnings over €100,000.
