Lazio president Sergio Cragnotti has reportedly said signing Argentina midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron is an "objective".

Veron, who joined Manchester United from Lazio for £28 million sterling last July, has been repeatedly linked with a return to Rome where he still has a house, but the Premiership club have always denied the speculation.

"He [Veron] is an objective and it would be useless to deny it," Cragnotti was quoted as saying in today's Corriere Dello Sport.

"We're ready to bid for him but clearly the last word will be from Manchester United," he added. "We need to respect the English club's wishes".
