June is the sunniest month of the year, recording on average the most sunshine and least rainfall per day, according to official figures.

So far, this one hasn't disappointed with temperatures in the twenties on a several occasions but if you think this weekend is going to deliver more of the same, think again!

Met Éireann is forecasting a cool and breezy weekend with sunny spells and showers, with highs of no more than 16 or 17 degrees.

On the event guide this weekend, the Irish Anti-War Movement's fundraising concert now takes place at Vicar Street in Dublin on Saturday instead of the Point venue as originally intended.

The "When Bush Comes to Shove" gig - featuring artists including Christy Moore, Damien Rice and Kila - is intended to raise funds for the protest around Dromoland Castle, where US President George W. Bush is attending a US/EU summit hosted by the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, on June 25th and 26th. Tickets for the gig are already sold out and doors open at 7 p.m.

This weekend's domestic sporting calendar is dominated by Sunday's double-header at Croke Park in which Dublin take on Offaly in the Leinster Hurling Championship semi final at 1.45 p.m. followed by the clash of Meath and Laois in the Leinster Football Championship at 3.45 p.m.

Iarnrod Éireann say their service from Clara will depart at 10 a.m. and is due to arrive at Heuston Station at 11.20 a.m. Return trains to Clara are at 6.05 p.m. and 6.50 p.m. from Heuston Station.

Tullamore travellers can take the 10.35 a.m. service, which will arrive at Heuston Station at 11.40 a.m. Return train to Tullamore is at 6.50 p.m. from Heuston Station.

Carrick-on-Shannon will host the meeting of Leitrim and Roscommon in the Connaught Football Championship. Throw in is scheduled for 3.30 p.m. and traffic in and out of the town is expected to be heavy.

The same applies to Clones where Donegal and Tyrone clash in the Ulster Football Championship. The game starts at 2.15 p.m.

On the racing front, there are two meetings on Sunday at Gowran Park in Co Kilkenny and Navan in Co Meath. Both cards start are scheduled to start in and around 2.30 p.m.
