The State has been given four weeks to produce a book of evidence in the case of a Pakistani doctor accused of sexually assaulting two female patients in a Dublin hospital.

The 36-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with sexually assaulting two female patients aged in their early 20s in separate incidents at the Mater Hospital on July 28th last.

A defence barrister objected at Dublin District Court to a further remand, saying the defendant had been in custody for more than two months although the case was straightforward.

Judge Gerard Haughton made it peremptory for service of a book of evidence on November 6th and said he would strike out the charges if the case was not completed then.
