Gardai have arrested a seventh person, a man his mid-20s, this evening in connection with the murder of John Carroll in the Coombe area of Dublin on Wednesday.

He is being detained at Clondalkin Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Father-of-three John Carroll was shot dead in Grumpy Jacks pub on Wednesday evening.

A woman and a man in their mid-20s were arrested earlier today in connection with Mr Carroll's murder. The woman is being detained at Crumlin Garda Station while the man is being held at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

Meanwhile, the woman and three men who were arrested last night are still being questioned today.

The three men, all in their 20s and from the Crumlin area, were arrested at Dublin Port shortly before 8pm.

They are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act at Pearse Street, Kilmainham and Harcourt Terrace Garda Stations.

The woman, aged 30, who was arrested at her home shortly after 6pm, is being held under the same laws at Kevin Street Garda Station.

All four can be detained for up to 72 hours.

Mr Carroll was killed when a gunman wearing a motorcycle helmet burst into the bar, in the Coombe, on Wednesday night, singled out his victim and opened fire a number of times with a handgun.

The attacker made off on a waiting motorbike, along with an accomplice. There were up to 20 people in the pub at the time of the shooting.
