Seven for court on cannabis raids

Seven men are to appear in court today in connection with raids targeting a gang cultivating cannabis.

Seven men are to appear in court today in connection with raids targeting a gang cultivating cannabis.

The raids - dubbed Operation Nitrogen - saw 5,800 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €4.6 million seized at six locations.

Gardaí searched a number of premises at locations throughout the country on Wednesday and eight men were arrested.

Seven have been charged in connection with the seizure and will appear in court this morning. One will appear before Gorey District Court at 10.30am,  two will face Drogheda District Court at 10.30am and four males will face Longford District Court, also at 10.30am.
