The sentencing of a man who has pleaded guilty to assault causing serious harm by discharging a shotgun at a shop assistant has been adjourned at the Circuit Criminal Court in Castlebar.

The case against Vincent O’Donnell (47), Knockabrone, Mayo Abbey, Claremorris, was adjourned by Judge Thomas E O’Donnell at the request of Colm McCarthy, defending.

Mr McCarthy requested an adjournment stating that a victim impact statement and his client’s medical condition at the time of the shooting incident last year needed to be put before the court.

O’Donnell pleaded guilty earlier this year to discharging a shotgun at Dympna Walshe at the Costcutters Store in Balla, Co Mayo, on May 31st last causing her serious harm.
