Scottish Premier League chief executive Roger Mitchell has revealed negotiations with Sky will take place next week.

The collapse of the SPL TV proposal, which was vetoed by the Old Firm, had left the rest of the top flight facing an uneasy financial future.

But the 10 clubs then turned the tables on the Old Firm by announcing their decision to quit the SPL in two years.

Now Mitchell is set to re-open discussions with Sky after the broadcast company had withdrawn their interest in covering the game in Scotland.

"Negotiations are going on with Sky, BBC Scotland and Radio Five Live," Mitchell told The Herald.

"Contrary to what may have been reported elsewhere, Sky officials will meet me in my office and discuss television contracts - and you can take it as read that negotiations will centre round a new two-year deal."
