Michael Schumacher has praised his Ferrari pit-crew for the way they handled his Austrian Grand Prix refuelling fire and insisted they are the best in Formula One.

The crew reacted quickly to douse the flames when fuel left in the nozzle leaked onto the hot bodywork of his car at the A1-Ring last Sunday.

"I have to rely on my crew in situations like that and there was in my mind never any doubt whatsoever," said Schumacher, who went on the win the race.

"I have the best mechanics in the pit-lane and rely on them completely. It was super the way they handled the situation."

Schumacher had remained calm during the incident, only wiping his visor as he left the pit-lane.

"It was a bit hard to see because there were a lot of dead bugs on the visor already and the foam from the fire extinguishers," he added.

Ferrari, along with the sport's world governing body, the FIA, are investigating the incident but the team insist refuelling should stay in F1 having been reintroduced in 1994.
