Ryanair is to develop up to 20 routes into Morocco aimed at carrying one million passengers a year to the north African state.

The plan covers most of the regional airports in Morocco, said the company, which earlier this month announced flights from Marseille in France to three cities in Morocco - Fez, Marrakesh and Oujda.

It also has plans for flights to Morocco from its German base at Frankfurt Hahn.

In March, low-cost rival Easyjet said it was flying beyond its traditional European boundaries for the first time with a route planned to Marrakesh in Morocco starting in July of this year.
