Ryanair passenger numbers continue to climb

Budget airline Ryanair today reported a year-on-year passenger rise of more than 39 per cent in March.

Budget airline Ryanair today reported a year-on-year passenger rise of more than 39 per cent in March.

In a statement the airline said it carried 1.4 million passengers, a rise of 39 per cent on March 2002.

Ryanair's load factor, which measures how many seats the airline has filled, fell slightly, however, from 79 per cent to 78 per cent.

The number of seat sales sold through its website has climbed from 91 per cent to 94 per cent.

Last month Ryanair said it earned pre-tax profit of €47.8 million in the third quarter of last year, up 45 per cent from a year earlier. Revenues rose 37 per cent to €186 million and passenger numbers over the quarter increased by 46 per cent to 3.93 million.
