A Russian military helicopter crash-landed in Chechnya this evening and up to six people are believed to have died.

Interfax news agency, quoting the Defence Ministry and military sources in Chechnya, said six people were killed and eight injured when the Mi-8 helicopter made an emergency landing in a mountainous area.

However, the defence ministry's press service was quoted as saying all on board had survived the landing by the village of Engenoi, southeast of the regional capital Grozny.
