The former Ireland rugby coach, Mr Murray Kidd, yesterday settled his legal action against his former employer, Sunday's Well RFC in Cork.
Mr Kidd, with an address at Shepperton, Lime Trees Road, Maryborough Hill, Cork, had sued Mr Frank Jackson and Mr Daniel Daly in their capacity as trustees of Sunday's Well RFC. He was seeking £24,700 which he claimed he was owed for his services following his appointment as director of coaching at the club in May 1997.
The contract was for two years and was due to expire at the end of April this year, said Mr Kidd in documents lodged with Cork Circuit Court.
Mr Kidd helped Sunday's Well win promotion to Division I of the AIL and the Munster Senior Cup in his first stint with the club in 1994.
New Zealand-born Mr Kidd was appointed Ireland coach in 1996 but lasted less than a year in the position after a series of defeats in the Five Nations Championship.
Yesterday the solicitor for Mr Kidd, Mr Michael Bolger, told Judge Patrick Moran that agreement had been reached between the parties and Judge Moran adjourned the matter until June for implementation. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
