The RUC launched a murder inquiry today after a pensioner who was stabbed almost two months ago died in hospital.

Norman Moffat (73) was knifed by a youth in Coleraine in Co Derry as he went to buy his morning newspaper on January 26th.

The attack at the junction of Railway Road and Circular Road was captured on close circuit television.

One man was questioned about the attack and released on police bail.

RUC detectives investigating the stabbing have made a fresh appeal for information.

They want anyone who can help to identify a youth seen leaving the scene via a nearby alley to contact them.
