RTÉ apologises over airbrushing

Jedward found themselves interviewed by the media when they returned from their unsuccessful attempt to win the Eurovision for Ireland in Azerbaijan.

Newsreader Aengus Mac Grianna read out the introduction on the RTÉ Nine O’Clock news with a still (seen above) of the twins on the board behind.

A RTÉ news spokeswoman confirmed that the airbrushing took place, but it was done by a non-editorial member of staff “who was not instructed to do so”.

She added: “It’s not RTÉ News editorial to remove logos”.

So RTÉ are not trying to airbrush TV3 out of existence then.
