Roe is new football boss in Offaly

Pat Roe has been appointed manager of the Offaly senior football team

Pat Roe has been appointed manager of the Offaly senior football team.  The former Carlow and Wexford boss succeeds Kevin Kilmurray.

The appointment was rubber-stamped at last night's meeting of the county board in Tullamore.

Roe rejuvenated Wexford's fortunes in recent seasons, steering the county to the Leinster semi-final in 2004 and 2005 as well as a National League final appearance last year.

Donal Keoghan is the new Cavan manager.  He managed the county minors in 2005 and succeeds Marty McElkennon.  The appointment will be ratified by the county board on Monday.
