FORMER FIANNA Fáil TD for Wicklow and government minister Dick Roche has embarked upon a new career as a consultant whose clients include international auditing firm Deloitte and Chinese electronics manufacturer Huawei.

On the europa.eutransparency register, the former environment minister and junior minister for European affairs is listed as a "consultant on relations with EU institutions".

Although described as self-employed, he also details his association with “The Skill Set” with an address at South Hanover Quay, Dublin 2.

His entry in the register continues: “The Skill Set is a Dublin-based consulting collective that provides strategy and technology services to small- and medium-sized enterprises.

“We help clients implement new technologies and improve business processes, drawing on a network of developers, designers, project managers and program [sic] managers with diverse specialisations subject to the requirements of each engagement.

“We also provide strategic advice to companies and organisations wanting to improve relations with EU institutions and with the agencies of EU member Governments.”

Under the heading “Complementary information”, the entry, dated April 22nd, says: “Dick, who was one of the longest-serving ministers for European affairs in the European Union, is in charge of all operations relating to EU institutions and with the agencies of EU member governments.”

Mr Roche is also a vice-president and member of the bureau of the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party whose member parties include Fianna Fáil.

He is also listed on the internet as a member of the advisory board of the European Consulting Network.
