Actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is to appear in a Dublin court next month after being arrested under the Public Order Act yesterday.

The 30-year-old Dublin-born actor was arrested in Dublin Airport yesterday. He was due to fly back to London after his appearance on RTÉ's Tubridy Tonightshow on Saturday night.

He was charged with being drunk and disorderly and with a breach of the peace after he was refused permission to board a British Midland aircraft at 2.30pm.

He was taken to Whitehall Garda station and held there for a short time but was released on his own bail after being charged under Section 4 and Section 6 of the Public Order Act.

Rhys-Meyers is to appear in Dublin District Court court next month to answer the charges.

Rhys-Meyers, who is starring as Henry VIII in The Tudors, was in Dublin to promote his new movie August Rush, which opens on Friday.
