London - Lawyers for the two British nurses held in Saudi Arabia for the murder of an Australian colleague said they had no confirmation yesterday of press reports that the two had been sentenced to four years' jail.

Scotland's Daily Record reported yesterday that Lucille McLauchlan, sentenced in September to eight years and 500 lashes for her part in the murder of Australian Yvonne Gilford, will instead get a four-year term and be spared the lashes. It reported that Deborah Parry, of Hampshire, yet to be sentenced for the alleged murder, will also serve four years.
