Dublin City Council has reduced weekend parking costs in the city centre in a bid to attract more Christmas shoppers to the capital.

More than 800 on-street car parking spaces will be available at a cost of €1 per hour every Saturday and Sunday in December in Dublin city centre’s core trading area. The core area is bounded by Parnell Square on the north, St Stephen’s Green on the south, Capel Street on the west and Nassau Street on the east.

A special promotion sticker has been placed on parking meters where the offer applies so spaces are easy to identify. The reduction in fees will save shoppers €1.90 an hour on Saturday and 40 cent on Sunday. €1 parking in the wider city centre is available for those that have both a parking tag and use the council’s system.
