GAA – NFL round-up:Cork will have the bragging rights over neighbours Kerry until the Munster rivals lock horns again in the heat of the championship after a full-blooded and at times tetchy encounter in Tralee. Daniel Goulding's injury-time free proved the difference with Cork winning 0-17 to 1-13.

Both sides were reduced to 14-men in the second half, with Noel O’Leary and Barry John Keane seeing red for separate off-the-ball incidents within minutes of each other. Both players protested their innocence but after consulting with his officials, referee Michael Duffy had no hesitation in showing straight reds.

Cork pulled away shortly afterwards but a Paul Geaney goal, after Darran O’Sullivan burst through the Rebel’s ranks, looked to be good enough to earn a share of the spoils.

However, Goulding was afforded one last opportunity to take the points and his free from wide on the right sailed through the posts.

At Iniskeen, Monaghan put in an impressive performance to overcome Galway 0-19 to 0-14.

Meanwhile, Dublin made a winning start to their campaign under the lights at the Athletic Grounds in Newry last night. Armagh, who were missing their Crossmaglen contingent due to their involvement in club’s championship, lost their way in the final quarter as Dublin held on for a 2-12 to 1-11 win.

Saturday night’s other top flight encounter say All-Ireland finalists Down throw away a commanding lead against Mayo in Castlebar. The Mourne men were in complete control after goals from Benny Coulter and both Martin and John Clarke helped them build a five-point lead.

But, with Mark Ronaldson and Andy Moran to the fore, five successive scores from the home side earned Mayo an unlikely 1-13 to 3-7 draw.
