The parents of Raonaid Murray, the Dublin teenager who died following a stabbing in 1999, have launched a new website to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her death.

Ms Murray was 17 years old when she was attacked just yards from her home in Glenageary, Co. Dublin

Her body was discovered at Silchester Crescent, Glenageary, in the early hours of September 4th, 1999. The last definite sighting of the teenager was of her leaving Scotts pub in Dún Laoghaire at 11.20pm on September 3rd.

More than 8,000 people have been interviewed in the Garda investigation into her death and almost 3,000 statements taken. There were 12 arrests but no-one has been charged.

The new website, www.raonaid.com, has been set up to commemorate Ms Murray’s life but also to appeal for further details surrounding her death.

Following a public appeal in September last year gardaí received new “very significant” information in relation to the case.

With the 10th anniversary of Ms Murray’s death approaching, her parents are hoping further evidence will emerge.

Earlier today, Ms Murray's parents, Jim and Deirdre, outlined the aims of the website on RTÉ's Morning Ireland. Mr Murray said the site has been launched to allow those who knew Raonaid to remember her life.

"We want people to remember Raonaid in the way we try to remember her, we want her friends to use it, neighbours to use it and the wider community to use it to express their feelings for Raonaid.

"But we also want the website to be an opportunity for people to give information who have, for whatever reason, not given it yet. There will be a facility there for people to pass on what they know," Mr Murray said.
