WAS it mere peevishness or a display of artistic temperament which led Henry Rollins to depart the stage in a huff at the Point on Thursday night? The American hardcore neo punk whose tattooed back bore a rather endearing to the insignia of St Bernardino of Siena was among the performers who turned up for the 10th anniversary concert marking the death of the late Phil Lynott. Other musicians - who put in an appearance included - Def Leppard's Joe Elliot (who, unlike Henry Rollins, seemed reluctant to say goodbye to the audience) and Therapy?'s Andy Cairns.

Also present for the night were Mr Lynott's mother, Philomena Lynott, who stepped out before the crowd to more rapturous applause than greeted anyone else in the course of the evening; her son's wife Caroline and two daughters Sarah and Cathleen (who wants to be a rock star, it seems) came along too. While they sat in the auditorium, many other invited guests preferred to remain for the duration, of the concert safely ensconced in the backstage bar.

Boxer Steve Collins, who came out to recite a poem, could later be seen nursing a glass prior to giving up alcohol on Monday when he goes into training in preparation for his next fight. And A Wear's Deirdre Kelly turned up in the company of Dave Kavanagh, relaxing before she heads off today to a fortnight's travel in the Far Fast.
