Police are hunting armed raiders who today robbed a Co Down bank.

Police are hunting armed raiders who today robbed a Co Down bank.

Two masked men, one armed with a handgun and the other a machete, robbed the Ulster Bank at Church Street in Dromore.

The man armed with the gun jumped over the bank counter and threatened three members of staff who were forced to lie on the ground, said police.

The second man stood guard at the main door of the bank while his accomplice scooped up cash.

The men made off with an undisclosed sum of money in a red or maroon-coloured Renault car in which two other men were believed to have been waiting.

The two men wore green/yellow fluorescent jackets. One wore a red balaclava and the other a black one.

A Police service spokeswoman said CCTV footage was being studied in a bid to identify the raiders.
