Police officers were tonight making a detailed search of the area where a 25-year-old Northern Ireland woman went missing.

Police officers were tonight making a detailed search of the area where a 25-year-old Northern Ireland woman went missing.

An air and ground search was launched in the Ards Peninsula area of Co Down after the disappearance of Lisa Dorrian after a late night party.

Police have become increasingly concerned for the welfare of Miss Dorrian and have not ruled out a crime.

They have appealed to property owners in the area to check garages and outhouses for anything suspicious.

The young shop assistant from Bangor, Co Down has not been seen since attending a party in a caravan site on the Shore Road in Ballyhalbert, County Down.

She was last seen there at around 5am on Monday and since then has not made contact with her friends or family.

Fears of foul play have been aroused because her handbag and personal belongings were left at the scene.

The missing woman is 5ft 4ins in height, of thin build with blonde hair.

She was wearing a white short sleeved top with lettering on it, cream combat trousers and a pair of white furry moon boots.
