Racing:Melbourne Cup ante-post favourite Profound Beauty will not run at Flemington next month after being withdrawn from the race.

The five-year-old was due to go into quarantine tomorrow ahead of the trip to Australia but owners Moyglare Stud have decided she will not travel, according to the yard of trainer Dermot Weld.

"It's a decision by the owners that they don't want to run in the Melbourne Cup," Mark Weld, son of the trainer, told The Irish Times.

“She worked really well yesterday morning and looked to be back to her summer form.

“But the owners have decided not to go,” added Weld, whose father trained two Melbourne Cup winners in Vintage Crop (1993) and Media Puzzle (2004).

Profound Beauty’s absence means there will be no Irish runner in one of the biggest races of the year on November 3rd.
