THE Fermoy bridge congress will be held in the Grand Hotel next weekend. Both the mixed and novice pairs will be played on Friday (7.45 p.m.); the two-session major pairs on Saturday (2 p.m.); and the teams will be over an extended session on Sunday (11.30 a.m.). Open pairs throughout.
Among the prizes the major pairs champions will each receive a portable colour television. A special offer at the venue is - two nights B/B plus one dinner for £50 nett (reservations: 025-31444).

The Contract Bridge Association of Ireland ran three national pairs championships simultaneously over three sessions in the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise. The major event (Davidson Cup) was won by T.
