London - Animal rights hunger striker Barry Horne could be on the verge of ending his hunger strike, it emerged yesterday.

Horne (46), seriously ill after refusing food for 66 days, is studying documents related to the government's position on animal experiments.

A website set up for the jailed hunger striker, who was returned to York's Full Sutton Prison on Thursday night after spending two weeks in hospital, says the documents "could result in a successful resolution".

Horne, a former dustman, is serving 18 years for a firebombing campaign.
