Prince of Wales arrives in Northern Ireland

The Prince of Wales flew into Northern Ireland today for a series of engagements.

The Prince of Wales flew into Northern Ireland today for a series of engagements.

His first stop was at Queen's University Belfast, where he met students and staff and re-opened a refurbished section of the historic Lanyon Building.

Greeting him at the main building was the Lord Lieutenant of the Co Borough of Belfast, Lady Carswell and Lord mayor of the city Mr Jim Rodgers.

The prince viewed a number of exhibits at the university's Black and White Hall before unveiling a plaque in the restored Great Hall.

He also met university vice chancellor Sir George Bain and the North's employment and learning minister, Ms Carmel Hanna.

This is his 13th visit to Northern Ireland - the first was in August 1961. The last time he was in the North was in June 2000.
