A priest who has difficulty genuflecting or kneeling since injuring his knee when he tripped in a hole has settled his High Court action for damages against a local authority.

The terms of the settlement between Father James Davern (57) and Cork Corporation were not disclosed when Father Davern's barrister, Mr Jim Duggan, told Mr Justice Budd in the High Court in Cork that the matter had been settled.

Father Davern's claim for general damages arose after he tripped in a hole at Military Hill, Cork on January 11th, 1992, when he was serving as curate in St Patrick's Church, Lower Glanmire Road.
