The President of the Republic of Chile begins a three-day state visit to Ireland this afternoon.
Mr Ricardo Lagos and his wife will be welcomed to Áras an Uachtaráin by the President, Mrs Mary McAleese, with a 21-gun salute, which will be followed by a tree-planting ceremony.
They will be the guests of honour at a dinner in the Áras tonight.
