SEOUL South Korean prosecutors yesterday questioned President Kim Young-sam's son over kickbacks, illicit political funds and influence-peddling, and the younger Mr Kim's arrest appeared imminent. "Prosecutors have secured enough evidence that he violated laws," a prosecution official said shortly after Mr Kim Hyun-chul arrived at the Supreme Public Prosecutor's office.

Senior prosecutor Mr Shim Je-ryoon told reporters the President's second son, known as the "crown prince", admitted accepting money from businessmen but denied taking bribes.

Prosecutors said they had established the younger Mr Kim took at least $2.2 million from several companies.
