Carlow gardai are awaiting the results of a post-mortem carried out by State pathologist, Dr John Harbison, on the body of a Carlow woman. The body of Mrs Kathleen Sullivan (68), of Killeshin Road, Graiguecullen, Co Carlow, is at St Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny, where she died last week.

Mrs Sullivan, a widow who lived alone, was the subject of a violent attack at her home in the early hours of Monday, July 5th last. A man was arrested for aggravated burglary.

He was later released and a file was sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Mrs O'Sullivan had been beaten about the face and hands and was traumatised by the attack.
