Spring Statement on the agenda for Tuesday April 28th

Statement to be a ‘snapshot of where we are’ says Howlin

A draft Dáil schedule shows the Spring Statement will be detailed at 2pm next Tuesday, April 28th.

The two Government party whips were given a copy of the agenda for next week.

Leaders Questions with the Taoiseach will start next week’s proceedings at 1.30pm , half an hour earlier than normal.

Michael Noonan is due to take to his feet at 2.15pm followed by the Minister for Public Expenditure Brendan Howlin.

The main Opposition parties will then be given the opportunity to respond to the announcement similar to budget day.

Government sources are keen to play down what the Spring statement will contain.

Mr Howlin said the announcement will be a “snapshot of where we are”, the progress we have made and where the country is going.
