Sligo-Leitrim: Third TD elected of four

Tony McLoughlin (67) was re-elected to the Dáil after a marathon count. He was first elected on to Sligo County Council in 1974 was subsequently elected to Sligo Borough Council in 1979, in place of his father Pat. However the four times mayor of Sligo had to wait until 2011 to win a Dáil in Sligo-Leitrim. McLoughlin is from Sligo and has lived there all his life. Before his election to the Dáil in 2011, he worked in sales across Sligo and Leitrim. He is a keen sports fan and is a supporter of Coolera-Strand Hill GAA Club. He is also a member of the Sligo Rovers Development Committee. He is married to Paula and they have three grown-up children
