Operation Dochas report

GARDAI have searched 27,460 people "on the street" since Operation Dochas, the anti drugs initiative, began in October in the Dublin area. Gardai arrested 5,787 people of whom 5,507 were charged, Mrs Owen said in a written reply to several TDs. Drugs worth £2,612,064 have been seized, 536 gardai are involved in the initiative and to date there have been 8,945 vehicle checkpoints.
