Detectives investigating the brutal murder of a Co Down pensioner a year ago today have made a fresh appeal for help in tracking down his killers.

Ted O'Hare (73) was found dead at his farmhouse in Loughbrickland by his three brothers after five men ransacked and burgled the house.

The brothers were assaulted by the gang who fled the house after a struggle.

On the first anniversary of the death, police issued E-fit photographs of three suspects who they want to speak to about similar, potentially linked, crimes against the elderly in the area.

Detective Chief Superintendent Derek Williamson said: "I am convinced that there are people who have a knowledge of events leading to the death of Mr O'Hare."

Several people have been arrested during the past year in connection with the murder, but no one has been charged.
