Six people have been arrested and three policemen injured in a riot in south Belfast last night.

A crowd of up to 200 gathered in University Avenue after police responded to reports of an assault on a man.

Police attempted to disperse the crowd but an estimated 150 people remained and attacked officers with bricks and bottles.

Three PSNI officers received minor injuries, and one member of the public was hit on the head with a bottle.
