Cricket: Kevin Pietersen scored a magnificent half century before the Indian spinners reined in a rampaging England to bowl out the tourists for 237  in the fourth one-day international today.

The 25-year-old stroke-maker struck six fours and two sixes in his 82-ball 77 and put on 90 for the third wicket with Paul Collingwood (36) after the visitors elected to bat on a pitch that afforded considerable bounce.

England have lost the first three matches of the seven-match series and their total here appears some way short of a winning score.

Pietersen missed the third one-dayer in Goa due to a stomach virus, but returned to dominate the Indian attack with a seventh one-day fifty after the openers were dismissed cheaply. However, his exit set off a collapse as the visitors lost two more wickets for the addition of just 19 runs to be left struggling at 172-6.
