THE widow of a former Indian prime minister Sonia Gandhi, has decided to join Rajiv Gandhi's Congress party after refusing membership for years.

As the standard-bearer of the Gandhi-Nehru dynasty, she yields influence within Congress, whose leaders regularly seek her support.

The former Tory MP Neil Hamilton and his wife Christine joked about their political fall as they appeared together on the TV show Have I Got News For You?
